Audition Final Interview Writeup

Hello everyone for my final Audition interview I talk with a Northwest pro baseball scout about some of the new faces on the Cougar baseball team as well as his opinion on the season outlook for the upcoming Cougar baseball season. During the interview I am hoping to provide the listener with a firsthand look at what the Cougar baseball team is going to look like this year. We talk about a few of the new players Coach Marbut has brought in this year and what we can expect to see from these players. I set the interview up with my voice in the beginning to get the story started. I added music under the interview to help with the pacing of the story. I cleaned up the interview but cutting out the “ums” and pauses in the interview and edited it down for the final draft but the majority of the content from the original interview remained the same with the addition of the music under the interview. I also rerecorded my questions to make them more concise. I had to adjust the volume levels of the voices to make them match up at similar levels. I did this by lowering the volume on the clips with the scout talking and raised the volume on my voice. This gave them a similar level. I faded the music in at the beginning and lowered the level once the speaking begins and left it under the voices throughout the interview. At the conclusion of the interview I bring the music volume back up to full before I fade it out to end the clip.

Audition Roughdraft writeup

Hello everyone.  This Audition rough draft is the direction I am going for my audio story.  I am trying to give a little insight into the upcoming Cougar baseball season.   I interviewed a baseball scout and asked him about some of the new faces on the Cougar baseball team as well as his opinion on this year’s outlook for the Cougar baseball season.  I set the interview up with my voice in the beginning to get the story started. I am debating on whether to add a little music, but I’m not sure if that will enhance the story.  During the interview I am hoping to provide the listener with a firsthand look at what the cougar baseball team is going to look like this year.  I need to clean up the interview and edit it down for the final draft but the majority of the content will be the same.

Illustrator Logo

This logo that I created is for my subject, Washington State University Cougar Baseball.  I wanted to do something that represented Washington State University as well as the sport of baseball.  I combined an abbreviated “WA STATE” for the school name with “Cougar Baseball” in the shape of a baseball bat in my original idea.  I shifted to a little different look for the final logo.  I removed the “Cougar Baseball” bat and replaced it with a green baseball diamond and gave the background the look of a baseball.

The “WA STATE” is the biggest part on my logo.  These letters are made up of all rectangles stacked on each other.  I used the rectangle tool and widened the rectangles that I sent to the background to give the letters an outlined look.  I also used the school colors to separate the “A” from the “W” in the logo.

The “Cougar Baseball” part of the logo, which is under the “WA STATE”, is supposed to be in the shape of a baseball bat.  I used the “C” in cougar to be the nub of the bat handle and the rest of the writing as the shape of the bat handle and grip. I took the brush tool to make the barrel of the bat.  I decided to use both the words “Cougar Baseball” and a bat in the logo to give a quick visual cue to help more clearly convey what my logo represents.  However, I do not think I effectively did this with the bat.  This is why I drop this aspect from my final logo and replaced the bat with the baseball background and baseball diamond.  For the baseball background I used the brush tool to make the red stitches, copied and pasted the shape in all four corners.  I also created a rectangle over the whole image place it in the back and gave it a radial gradient.  Then I lowered the opacity and gave it a yellowish tint, to give it an off-white look.  The green diamond was made with the rectangle tool and each base was created the same way.

My goal with this logo was to grab the viewer’s attention with the bold “WA STATE” and underline that simple big logo with a more detailed specific visual representation of the Cougar Baseball aspect of my logo.  By combining these two aspects together I am trying to make my Washington State Cougar Baseball subject an easily recognizable logo.
